av·a·tar    [av-uh-tahr, av-uh-tahr]  noun

– an incarnation, embodiment, or manifestation of a person or idea : Jack Kerouac was considered to be the avatar of the Beat Movement.

Our name sums it up.

At Avatar we strive to be the embodiment of not only the zeitgeist, but also the current technologies, fashions and methods — to always be looking forward at the possibilities. With our eyes, ears and minds always open, absorbing new trends, innovations and styles, exploring, analyzing and assessing their effectiveness and applying that knowledge to the achievement of client goals. Today's marketplace has many more moving parts than ever before, so it's important to understand not only what those parts are but how they interact, to be intimately familiar with the causal glue that connects them.

It's all about solving problems.

To us, every project is in essence a problem to be solved. It may be a simple straightforward problem like how to convey a particular piece of information in the most effective way, or a more complex problem, like what approach and methodology should be utilized to construct a membership portal for a given demographic. No problem has a single possible solution, but ultimately the problem, not a theory, or a style, determines the solution. Our team has the experience and the tools to fit the solution to problem, instead of trying to fit the problem to our solution.

A problem well stated is a problem half solved.

Our clients are the experts on their business. They know their industry, its ins and outs, its prominent features as well as its nuances and vagaries. They also know their own business, its history and evolution, as well as its current goals and aspirations. It is that knowledge that we tap into to construct the blueprint for the solution of their project problem.

Work smart, not clever.

Its a competitive world. Many design firms find it effective to develop a gimmick, — a special feature for the sake of having a special feature that sets them apart. This gimmick may be a style, or a special methodology, or even an attitude. At Avatar it's our belief that the very best gimmick is not to have a gimmick. Do high quality work and clients will find you without much effort on your part. This model has worked very well for us since 1996 when we first opened our doors. We prefer quality to quantity. Therefore it's extremely important to us to foster loyalty in our clients by maintaining a close relationship that is responsive to their needs and desires while at the same time always being value additive.
